Denzel joins Will's Saturday Night?
Denzel Washington is apparently in talks to collaborate with Will Smith on a remake of Uptown Saturday Night.
Independence Day star Will bought the rights to remake the 1974 Sidney Poitier classic comedy in 2002 and has apparently been in talks with several stars and studios since, and now movie blog Pajiba.com reports Denzel is interested.
The original, directed by and starring Poitier, alongside Bill Cosby, saw two friends sneak out of their homes to visit a legendary, but illegal, nightclub, but when the place is held up their wallets are stolen and the pair set out to recover the winning lottery ticket that was inside Cosby's character's wallet.
Since Will bought the rights, Eddie Murphy and Martin Lawrence have reportedly been in talks to co-star, but now Denzel is apparently interested in collaborating with him on the movie.
Warner is apparently looking for someone to rewrite the most recent draft of the script, sparking reports the project could finally be getting off the ground.
