Matt Damon is in talks to star in the true story of a man who spent his life savings on rescuing a dilapidated zoo.

Cameron Crowe is directing Fox's movie adaptation of Benjamin Mee's memoir We Bought A Zoo, with the Bourne star in negotiations to play Benjamin, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

Benjamin blew all his money to save the zoo in the English countryside and its 200 exotic animals facing destruction.

He and his children balanced caring for his wife, who was dying of brain cancer, and dealing with escaped tigers, raising endangered animals, working with an eclectic skeleton crew and readying the zoo for its reopening.

Matt, who shot to fame in Good Will Hunting, which he and Ben Affleck co-wrote and won an Oscar for, has since become known for his roles in action movies and thrillers.
