Penelope Cruz could be sharing screen time with her husband Javier Bardem in The Counselor.
The Spanish actress is reportedly in talks to join Ridley Scott's forthcoming thriller, which has been written by The Road's Cormac McCarthy and has been described as "No Country For Old Men on steroids", according to The Hollywood Reporter.
Penelope - who is "the frontrunner" to portray the romantic lead opposite Michael Fassbender - and Javier could be the second real-life couple in the film, following rumours that Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie are also in talks to appear.
It would be the first time that the Spanish pair have worked together on the big screen since Woody Allen's Vicky Cristina Barcelona in 2008.
Michael is already on board to star as a respected lawyer who dabbles in drug dealing, while Brad is said to be on the verge of signing up for a supporting role as Westray, "a business associate of the Counselor".
Angelina is rumoured to be in discussions to play a mysterious female, known as Malkina.
Javier was among those thought to have been in talks to play the film's villain.
Production is set to start in June.
