Cruise back for Jack Reacher sequel
Tom Cruise is set to return for a sequel to Jack Reacher.
The Hollywood A-lister is expected to reprise his title role as the former US Army military police major in the follow-up, which will be based on the latest book in the Lee Child series, Never Go Back, reported Deadline.
The story sees Jack heading back to his old military base in Virginia to take a woman out on a date, but when he gets there, he discovers she has been arrested and he finds himself about to be recalled back into the Army.
Paramount Pictures and Skydance Productions are developing the second instalment, and are now searching for a writer and director.
Tom and the studio hope that Christopher McQuarrie, who adapted and directed the first film, will be back for the sequel, although he is busy working on the fifth Mission: Impossible film, which also stars Tom.
Jack Reacher, which also starred Rosamund Pike and David Oyelowo, made around 218 million US dollars worldwide when it was released in December 2012.
