Russell Crowe is set to make his directorial debut.

The Man Of Steel star will go behind the camera as well as star in The Water Diviner, according to Deadline.

Set in 1919, the film centres on an Australian father who travels to Turkey to look for his two sons who have disappeared following the battle of Gallipoli.

Scripted by Andrew Knight and Andrew Anastasios, The Water Diviner is expected to shoot in Australia and Turkey later this year.

The Gladiator and Les Miserables star will next be seen in Akiva Goldsman's Winter's Tale and takes the title role in Darren Aronofsky's Noah.

Deadline said that he previously considered directing films The Long Green Shore and Bra Boys.
