Russell Crowe has reportedly signed up to play Noah in an upcoming biblical epic.
The Gladiator star had already been linked to director Darren Aronofsky's movie and Deadline reports that the casting now seems to be official.
So far it isn't known who will join Crowe in the re-telling of the tale of Noah's Ark although it has previously been reported that Taken star Liam Neeson was being courted for a role.
The movie is Aronofsky's first since his Oscar-winner Black Swan, and is apparently something of a passion project for the filmmaker.
He has said: "Since I was a kid, I have been moved and inspired by the story of Noah and his family's journey."
The film is expected to begin shooting this summer and is due to be released next year.
