Russell Crowe said there won't be cliches in Robin Hood.

Russell Crowe has apparently said previous versions of Robin Hood have relied too much on the "usual cliches".

People.com reports the actor, who plays the lead in Ridley Scott's new adaptation of the story, told French TV's Canal Plus Le Grand Journal that his version would be a "fresh" take on the story.

He said: "Past filmmakers and studios have supposed things about Robin Hood."

The Oscar winner added that Robin Hood "depicts the origins, where he might actually have come from".
