Luke Evans will have the help of original writer James O'Barr when he starts shooting the reboot of the movie The Crow.

The Fast And Furious 6 actor has the starring role in the remake of the 1994 fantasy film about a man who comes back to life as the undead avenger of his and his fiancee's brutal murders.

Variety has now revealed that O'Barr, creator of the original The Crow graphic novel series, has come on board Relativity Media's movie as a consultant.

The first film was based on O'Barr's comic book series and starred Brandon Lee.

The new version, due to start filming in 2014, will be directed by F Javier Gutierrez.

O'Barr said in a statement: "It is important for Crow fans to understand that Relativity, Javier (director F Javier Gutierrez), Luke and the entire team are working on a new adaptation of the book itself.

"I believe that this movie will stand alongside Brandon and his film as a valid work of art, and I look forward to collaborating on the project."
