Cronenberg: R-Patz to stun critics
Robert Pattinson will silence critics with his "fantastic" performance in Cosmopolis, director David Cronenberg has revealed.
The Twilight heartthrob will "blow" doubters away as he takes on the lead role of young troubled billionaire Eric Packer in the film adaptation of Don DeLillo's novel.
"He's fantastic in it. They'll see him do things they've never seen him do, believe me. They'll be blown away," the filmmaker told The Playlist.
David - whose next film A Dangerous Method stars Keira Knightley and Michael Fassbender - had no hesitations about casting Robert following his starry turn in the vampire movie series. The actor reprises his role as vampire Edward Cullen in the latest Twilight film, Breaking Dawn - Part 1.
"The excitement around Cosmopolis because of Rob was terrific. It was fun," he continued.
"I kind of enjoy that. Frankly, in a weird way, it's almost in parallel with Keira Knightley. I think, for me, you can't ignore the baggage, but when you're making the movie, it doesn't exist. It's not there. All you're dealing with is the reality of this person as an actor. And I love that."
