Marion Cotillard stole the show at the premiere of her new film Blood Ties in Cannes in a multi-coloured Dior gown.

The Oscar-winning actress joined co-stars Zoe Saldana, Clive Owen, Belgian actor Matthias Schoenaerts, James Caan and her writer-director partner Guillaume Canet on the red carpet for the gala screening.

Blood Ties is about two brothers, the younger, played by Billy Crudup, a cop and the elder, played by Clive Owen, an ex-con, both caught up in the world of organised crime in the 70s.

Marion plays the ex-con's Italian-born ex and had to adopt a New York-Italian accent for the movie - an experience she admitted was "very, very stressful."

When an Italian reporter complimented her accent, she sighed: "I'm going to kiss you! You can't imagine how much pleasure you've given me."

The Beach star turned director Guillaume - with whom Marion has a two-year-old son - starred as the older brother in the original French version of the film, Les Liens Du Sang, in 2008.
