Dominic Cooper has revealed that the Warcraft film will have a "human story" at its heart.

The Mamma Mia! actor, who is set to star in Duncan Jones' big-screen adaptation of the video game series, said the movie wouldn't just focus on the rivalry between the humans and the orcs.

He told Crave Online: "There's a very human story at the heart of it because there's a few of us that are humans in it that are up against tribes and problematic issues that exist in the world that we exist in.

"It's happening all over the world at the moment and you see it happening all over. People have savaged their own lands and their own environment and they're having to find a new environment in which to move into through the hostility of others."

The 35-year-old added: "If there's something as poignant as that that we can relate to and that we see unfolding in everyday life, then it will make it a worthwhile story."

Dominic said that Duncan's script, which he co-wrote with Charles Leavitt, inspired him to sign onto the film, not the video game.

"I don't know it as a video game, so you can read what you like about the video game," he said.

"In this, the story is great. If you're going to make a film, the pleasure in a film is to be immersed in the world ... even more beautiful than a video game, so there's got to be something more special about it and that ultimately comes down to storyline and content."

Paula Patton, Ben Foster, Toby Kebbell and Rob Kazinsky will also star in Warcraft, which will be released in 2016.
