Javier Bardem could be singing his way onto the big screen, if the Coen brothers have their way.

Sibling filmmakers Joel and Ethan previously worked with the Spanish star in No Country For Old Men, where he portrayed cold serial killer Anton Chigurh, and now have another role in mind.

Ethan said: "Actually, we already have a part for him, which we have talked to him about - I don't know when we'll do this movie but we described the part to him - and it requires him to sing.

"We are so looking forward to that, and we're looking forward to working with Javier again."

The brothers may get a chance to rate Javier's vocal skills, following his forthcoming appearance in Glee. The Biutiful actor is rumoured to play a rock star who befriends Artie (Kevin McHale) in the current second season.

Joel said: "I read about that, that he's a Glee fan. We'll get to hear him sing - now that will be interesting."

The Coens, whose new film True Grit is up for ten Oscar nominations, have already started throwing ideas around for their next movie.

"We have just started writing another movie. It's too soon to tell anyone what it is yet but we're just coming into the office and writing basically," said Ethan.

Joel added: "There aren't any details yet. We are just mooting around an idea, which is going through a morphosis at this point."

:: True Grit is in cinemas now.
