Clint wants Joaquin to play Hoover?
Clint Eastwood is eyeing up Joaquin Phoenix to play J Edgar Hoover's reputed lover and protege Clyde Tolson.
Vulture reports that the Walk The Line star is the top choice to star for Clint's forthcoming biopic about the notorious first director of the FBI, where he is tapped to work alongside Leonardo DiCaprio's Hoover.
Joaquin is expected to receive the offer to play Tolson as soon as Leonardo's deal, which has yet to be finalised, closes.
The script, written by Milk's Dustin Lance Black, is set to chart Hoover's rise to power and explore the two men's complicated close relationship. While the colleagues dined, partied and holidayed together, neither man admitted to being gay and Hoover was known for intimidating those who dared to question his sexual preference.
Joaquin, who won an Oscar for his portrayal of country singer Johnny Cash, recently made the headlines when his latest film, I'm Still Here, was unveiled as a hoax.
