Citadel director for Sinister 2
Irish director Ciaran Foy is to take the helm on horror sequel Sinister 2.
Scott Derrickson, who wrote and directed the original low budget scary film, starring Ethan Hawke, announced on Twitter that he is passing on the baton.
Sinister, released in October 2012, starred Ethan as a true-crime writer who finds a stash of home movies apparently made by the serial killer he is researching.
It went on to become one of the year's most profitable movies, grossing over 87 million dollars (£51.7 million) worldwide on a three million dollar (£1.7 million) budget.
Scott tweeted: "Sinister 2 news! The script, written by me & @massawyrm [aka C Robert Cargill], will be directed by the talented Ciaran Foy. I will produce w/Jason Blum @blumhouse"
Ciaran added: "Can't wait to get started on SINISTER 2 with the great @scottderrickson and @blumhouse!"
Ciaran previously directed British horror Citadel starring Aneurin Barnard.
EOne will finance Sinister 2, which is due to begin shooting in July.
