Chris Klein has extended his stay in rehab.

The American Pie actor voluntarily checked into Cirque Lodge treatment centre in Utah after his second arrest for drink-driving, and after being there for more than 30 days, decided to stay on for longer.

His spokesperson Jaime Primak told People.com: "Chris, along with his support team, has decided to extend his treatment - he is doing fantastic and is optimistic about his future... He thanks everyone for their continued support."

Chris was arrested for driving under the influence of alcohol on June 16 in Los Angeles, and entered rehab on June 21.

The 31-year-old - whose voice talents will feature in animated film The Wild Bunch and will appear in American Pie 4 in 2012 - has a mandatory court appearance on August 23.
