DUBLIN city centre ground to a halt yesterday thanks to the appearance of two Hollywood stars.

Actors Channing Tatum and Jonah Hill arrived at the Screen Cinema on D'Olier Street to promote upcoming film '22 Jump Street'.

"It's great to be here," Channing told the Irish Independent. "I've shot in England, Scotland and Wales but never in Ireland. I'd love to come back and do some work."

Hundreds of fans gathered outside the cinema and cheered as the actors pulled up in a brightly coloured Lamborghini.

"The Irish crowd are great," Channing said. "Loud but great. I think some of them may have got lost en route to Croke Park. I haven't seen a huge amount of the city just yet but I'm looking forward to trying a pint of Guinness later on."

Earlier in the day both Tatum and Hill were awarded Bram Stoker medals from Trinity College Dublin's Philosophical Society.

They posed underneath the Campanile with their medals as students and tourists looked on.

'22 Jump Street' will be released in Ireland on June 6 and will see Officers Jenko and Schmidt go undercover as college students with the aim of taking down a secret drug ring.
