Jim Carrey could have his God-like powers returned to him in a Bruce Almighty sequel.
The Canadian funnyman is being eyed to reprise his role as Bruce Nolan, the TV news reporter who is offered the opportunity to be God for a week, following news that Universal has hired Jarrad Paul and Andrew Mogel to write a follow-up for the 2003 hit.
Variety reports that the film is still in its early stages, with no word as to whether Morgan Freeman would return to play God.
It's not known if Steve Carell - who later starred in sequel Evan Almighty - would also put in an appearance as Bruce's former colleague Evan Baxter, or Jennifer Aniston as his girlfriend Grace.
Jim has previously revealed that he would consider revisiting the comedy, telling Comingsoon.net: "We're talking about maybe returning to some old characters that everyone has been asking about - there's Bruce Almighty..."
Despite mixed reviews from critics, Bruce Almighty, directed by Tom Shadyac, went on to become a box office hit, and broke records as one of the most successful comedies of all time in the US.
