Sandra Bullock has said she'd be put off making a sequel to The Heat in case it flopped like her other follow ups.

The actress, who stars in the cop buddy comedy with Bridesmaids actress Melissa McCarthy, spoke about her reservations at the film's UK premiere.

She said: "My sequels have never done very well so I would probably see if this one did well and then let's just embrace what worked."

She added jokingly: "Melissa and I talked about doing Heat sequel The Menopause, so when you have the hot flashes that's where the title would come into play and then The Heat Retirement where we retire to Miami in the heat."

The star, who appeared in Miss Congeniality 2: Armed And Fabulous, also said she was pleased more good roles were coming up for older women.

She said: "I laugh because things have got better than they ever were. I was supposed to be put out to pasture a long time ago but I'm not."

However, Sandra said there were scenes in The Heat she wouldn't want her son to see.

She said: "I asked the crew during a drugs scene, 'Is this something my son will be proud of one day?' and they went 'No'. I said, 'Not even when he's 18?'. They went 'No.' So this might be one I pretend like I didn't do."

Sandra was joined on the red carpet by director Paul Feig and co-stars Jamie Denbo and Jessica Chaffin.

The Heat is released in cinemas on July 31.
