The producer of the Bridget Jones films has joined the Queen for lunch at Buckingham Palace.

Eric Fellner is co-chairman of Working Title Films and one of the most powerful figures in the movie industry.

He was one of eight guests invited to dine with the monarch and the Duke of Edinburgh at a private lunch in the royal residence's 1844 Room.

Mr Fellner has met the Queen before, chatting to her about his films Elizabeth, Four Weddings And A Funeral and Pride And Prejudice when he collected a CBE in 2005.

"She intimated that she had watched them," he revealed at the time.

Conversations this time could turn to some of his more recent hit movies - Bridget Jones's Baby - the third instalment of the hit franchise with Renee Zellweger - or The Danish Girl starring Eddie Redmayne.

Her Majesty's Prison Service also had a representative at the luncheon - deputy director of custody Richard Vince.

Thousands of prison staff went on strike last week in protest over health and safety concerns amid claims the service was "in meltdown".

The demonstration came after a string of high profile incidents at prisons, including an alleged murder, a riot and the escape of two inmates.

The other guests at the palace were chief executive of UK Sport Liz Nicholl, the TUC general secretary Frances O'Grady, CEO of the Paradigm Trust Amanda Phillips, NHS England's national clinical director for dementia Professor Alistair Burns, the NFU former director general Andrew Robertson and director of the Scottish Sports Council Trust Company Dilawer Singh.

Since 1956, the Queen and Philip have given luncheon parties at the Palace to meet people from different walks of life.

Guests also join the Queen and the Duke for drinks beforehand and for coffee in the 18th Century Room afterwards.
