Funnyman Kevin Bridges is to host the BAFTA Scotland awards next month.

The ceremony returns after a one-year absence due to restructuring at BAFTA and is expected to attract some of the nation's biggest acting names, with Peter Capaldi and Peter Mullan nominated for awards.

The awards celebrate the best in the moving image industries in Scotland, with categories for television, film, animation and game design.

Kevin said: "I'm looking forward to hosting the awards, it should be a good night and hopefully it'll be a laugh."

BAFTA Scotland director Jude MacLaverty said: "The British Academy Scotland Awards demonstrate the wealth of talent we have within our country. As one of our finest comics, Kevin Bridges seemed like a natural choice to host this year's ceremony.

"We're proud to welcome him back to host this prestigious event in his home town."

The winners will be announced at Glasgow's Radisson Blu hotel on November 13.
