Bradley Cooper is "eager" to portray Lucifer, it has been claimed.
The Hangover star is in talks to star as Satan in Alex Proyas' big-screen adaptation of John Milton's epic poem Paradise Lost, said Variety.
The forthcoming film, which has been in development for some time, with five writers penning the script, is reported to be "crafted as an action vehicle that will include aerial warfare, possibly shot in 3D".
Milton's 17th-century poem couldn't be further away from the remake, which is about Satan's temptation of Adam and Eve and the pair's eventual expulsion from the Garden of Eden, with an epic war between archangels Lucifer and Michael taking place in heaven.
Bradley, who recently starred in Limitless, will next be seen reprising his role for The Hangover 2 alongside Ed Helms, Zach Galifinakis and Justin Bartha.
He has also entered negotiations to star in the remake of The Crow.
