Bracey: Mum can't watch love scenes
Luke Bracey has revealed that his mother is embarrassed by his love scenes.
The Australian actor, who stars in romantic drama The Best Of Me, admitted she can't bring herself to watch the screen when he is kissing or being intimate with a co-star.
"I know she doesn't particularly enjoy those scenes. She isn't comfortable. I think she closes her eyes and turns away until it's finished," he said.
"It's something only my mum knows the answer to, but it's a bit strange. I don't think she wants to see me declaring my love passionately and if I had a girlfriend, I don't think she'd particularly want me to be doing that in the living room in front of her."
Luke plays the young Dawson Cole in the big-screen adaptation of Nicholas Sparks' novel of the same name, with James Marsden as his older screen self.
"We had three weeks of rehearsals before shooting, so I discussed it with James. We wanted to make sure we had the basics down - the physicality and the accent - but we didn't want it to be too mimicky of each other," he explained.
The 25-year-old actor, who previously played bad boy Trey Palmer in Australian soap Home And Away, relished the opportunity to portray a good guy.
"I'd never done anything like this before. I've wanted to play different roles and I found playing the nice guy interesting," he said.
"I had a great time making it. Playing this guy that everyone looks up to, I wanted to emulate his moral compass and his ideas of loyalty. People love Nicholas Sparks so much that it felt like an honour to bring these characters to life."
:: The Best Of Me is available on Blu-Ray and DVD on February 9.
