Bob Hoskins chooses daughter over Hollywood
Bob Hoskins has turned down a lucrative Hollywood role so that he does not miss his daughter's wedding.
While most British actors would give their eye teeth to be offered a starring role in a Hollywood film, Bob Hoskins can pick and choose.
The 67-year-old actor tells Mandrake that he has turned down a highly lucrative part in Soldiers of Fortune, a big-budget war film, to ensure that he does not miss the wedding of his daughter, Rosa.
"It falls right in the middle of her wedding," he told me at a fundraising party for the Chickenshed theatre company, at the Hard Rock Cafe London. "One thing you don't do is not turn up to your daughter's wedding. I think she would be very upset – I would be dead."
Rosa, a 26-year-old actress and model, is to be married in a traditional ceremony in June. Her father declined to name the lucky fiancé.
