Blunt tunes up for Woods musical?
Emily Blunt is in talks to join the star-studded cast of Rob Marshall's upcoming musical Into The Woods.
The British actress has joined discussions to play the female lead alongside Johnny Depp and Meryl Streep in the big-screen adaptation of Stephen Sondheim's Tony-winning stage musical, reported Variety.
The film would follow a baker and his wife who venture into the woods to confront a witch for putting a curse on the childless couple, with James Corden already on board to play the baker and Emily tipped to plays his wife.
Meryl has been cast as the witch, while Johnny's role is to play the Wolf.
Chris Pine and Jake Gyllenhaal are also in talks to play the love interests of Cinderella and Rapunzel in the Disney film, while Christine Baranski is said to be considering a role as Cinderella's stepmother, which would reunite her Rob, who directed her in Chicago.
Stephen - who directed and wrote the original 1986 musical, based on James Lapine's book - has confirmed he is writing a new song for the film.
Production on the musical movie is expected to begin in London in the autumn.
