The skimpy blue trunks worn by Daniel Craig as he emerged from the sea in Casino Royale are going on display for the first time in an exhibition to mark 50 years of Bond films.

London's Barbican Centre has been given unprecedented access to the archive of Eon Productions, which makes the 007 movies, for the exhibition which will show how "Bond leapt from the page to the screen".

It's thought that the white bikini famously worn by Swiss actress Ursula Andress as Honey Ryder in Dr No, in what would become one of the most well-known scenes in cinema history, could also go on show.

Visitors will see Hollywood actress Halle Berry's Andress-style orange bikini from Die Another Day, starring Pierce Brosnan as the suave spy, while curators plan to recreate costumes from the franchise which have not survived.

Designing 007 - Fifty Years of Bond Style will feature the gadgets and weapons made for Bond and his adversaries, as well as costumes, cars and props.

Opening in July, the exhibition will look at the stunts, exotic locations, production design and special effects that make a Bond film and will feature unseen artwork for sets and storyboards.

Skyfall, Craig's next outing as Bond, directed by Sam Mendes and due for release this year, will also feature in the exhibition.

The show, guest-curated by Lindy Hemming, who created some of the Bond costumes, and fashion historian Bronwyn Cosgrave, will mark 50 years of the franchise, from 1962 Sean Connery flick Dr No.

Designing 007 - Fifty Years of Bond Style runs from July 6 to September 5.
