Blake Lively looks set to star in an upcoming film about Freddie Mercury's life.

The Gossip Girl actress would play Freddie's girlfriend Mary Austin, who he was very close to in the early 1970s and stayed good friends with until he died in 1991.

Blake, 25, would be starring alongside Sacha Baron Cohen, who will be playing the Queen frontman, according to The Sun.

It's thought Les Miserables director Tom Hooper might be at the helm of the movie.

The film will look at iconic star Freddie's legendary career and personal life, leading up to his death from Aids at just 45.

Borat actor Sacha is said to be a huge Queen fan and working hard on getting Freddie's speech and mannerisms exactly right.

Last year Queen star Brian May apparently said production had been delayed due to "complex" contracts but filming is expected to start at the end of this year for a 2014 release date.
