Bill Murray cast as curmudgeon?
Bill Murray is in talks to play yet another loveable but grumpy older man in comedy drama St Vincent De Van Nuys.
The coming-of-age story follows a 12-year old boy who, in the wake of his parents' divorce, finds an unlikely mentor and friend in his retired next-door neighbour.
Bill would play the neighbour, a war veteran whose life mainly consists of drinking, gambling and prostitutes, Variety reports.
Jack Nicholson had previously been tipped for the role.
Writer Ted Melfi is currently on board to direct. When the script appeared on the 2011 Black List it earned the same number of votes as Quentin Tarantino's Django Unchained.
Bill will next appear as Franklin D Roosevelt in the awards-tipped Hyde Park On Hudson, due out in December.
He recently finished filming Roman Coppola's period comedy A Glimpse Inside The Mind Of Charles Swan III, which also stars Charlie Sheen and Jason Schwartzman.
