Paul Bettany celebrated his six-pack being plastered on billboards across Hollywood at the US premiere of his new thriller Legion.
The actor, whose buff torso is on display for all to admire on the movie's poster, joined castmates Kate Walsh and Dennis Quaid for the rain-soaked screening in Los Angeles.
Director Scott Stewart said he wasn't sure if Paul had known that pictures of his fit physique would dominate poster-boards in the city, laughing: "I don't think he did but they seem to be going down well."
He went on: "If you've got that, you might as well show it off. Man he worked out!
"He's even more buffed and bigger now. He's addicted to the gym, it's disgusting, and it's really very shallow!"
Convincing Paul to play the lead role had been much simpler than the filmmaker anticipated.
He said: "I flew to New York and I met with him and I had this whole thing prepared, that yes its a horror action movie, yes its a throw back to the 70s but it also has all these other greater artistic aspirations. He just said 'do I get to shoot things?' I said 'yes' and he went 'great I'll do it!'"
