Vanessa Hudgens thinks the message of her latest film is a good one for shallow high school kids.
The actress stars alongside Alex Pettyfer in Beastly, which follows the charismatic but shallow 17-year-old Kyle who, via a curse, is physically transformed to look as ugly on the outside as he is on the inside.
In true fairytale fashion, it's a curse that can only be broken by true love.
She said: "It's a beautiful message, 'Don't judge a book by its cover'. It's an amazing thing to re-tell a classic tale, especially for high school kids where it's all about who you're hanging out with and what you're wearing."
The 22-year-old spent her teen years under the spotlight, but she says she's never felt the pressure of looking a certain way for the cameras.
"Not really. I mean I enjoy the aspect of dressing up because I'm extremely into fashion, so it's a pretty solid excuse to really go for it and just do things you wouldn't normally do everyday," she said.
