Baron Cohen to get Chaplin award
Sacha Baron Cohen is to be honoured with the Charlie Chaplin Britannia Award from Bafta LA.
The British actor and comedian last appeared in Oscar-winning musical Les Miserables but is most famous for his comic characters including wannabe gangster Ali G, Kazakh TV presenter Borat and gay Austrian fashion reporter Bruno.
He will receive the award from the US branch of the film and TV organisation at the ceremony in Beverly Hills on November 9.
Other stars being honoured include Benedict Cumberbatch, who will collect the British Artist Of The Year, while George Clooney is being presented with the Stanley Kubrick award for excellence in film.
Zero Dark Thirty director Kathryn Bigelow will receive the John Schlesinger award for directing and Sir Ben Kingsley is being honoured with the Albert R Broccoli award for his contribution to entertainment.
The Bafta LA awards lunch will be shown on in the US on BBC America on 10 November.
