Barnard wants to be James Bond
Aneurin Barnard has revealed playing secret agent James Bond would be his dream role.
The Welsh actor, who stars alongside Jaime Winstone in goth horror flick Elfie Hopkins, would like the opportunity to step into Daniel Craig's shoes to make make his father and granddads proud.
"It would probably never happen for me and I would never get a shot at it, but for me, in an ideal world, I would love to play Bond," he said.
"The women, the Martinis, the cars, the gadgets - it's all very appetising. I grew up with my grandfathers and father watching it, and I think it's the only kind of role I could possibly do that my father would be mesmerised by. I think he would find it so overwhelming. It would be a secret tribute to my grandfathers.
"If I played Bond, my dad probably wouldn't know what to do with himself. He'd probably put his shoes on the wrong way for the rest of his life!" quipped the 24-year-old.
Aneurin - who reckons Sean Connery is his "favourite Bond" but Daniel comes a "close second, because he makes a realistic assassin" - is under no illusions that the role would come his way in the future.
"Who knows? They might not even make any more after the next couple. Or I might be too short. It will never happen but it's always nice to dream and aim high - reach for the stars and you might get to Mars. So we'll see," he said.
