Gemma Arterton has signed on to star alongside Jeremy Renner in Hansel And Gretel: Witch Hunters, according to reports.
The former Bond girl beat Diane Kruger, Bond girl Eva Green and Swedish star Noomi Rapace to the lead role as Gretel, Heat Vision Blog reported.
The modern-day remake of the Brothers Grimm's fairytale, directed by Norwegian filmmaker Tommy Wirkola, has been described as "a dark action movie that picks up with the fairy tale siblings years after the traumatic childhood incident has turned them into bounty hunters".
Shooting could begin in Berlin in March.
Gemma, who appeared in Prince Of Persia, The Disappearance Of Alice Creed and Tamara Drewe last year, has also landed a role alongside Andrew Garfield in Michael Mann's Capa.
Jeremy, who was nominated for an Oscar following his performance in The Hurt Locker, has been busy working on the fourth instalment of Mission: Impossible, Ghost Protocol, with Tom Cruise and is scheduled to film his Hawkeye role in Marvel superhero movie The Avengers afterwards.
