Jessica Alba has hinted at what a mess her Sin City character will have become by the time we see the sequel in August.

The Machete Kills star will return to her role as stripper Nancy Callahan in Sin City: A Dame To Kill For and said she had been worried it would never happen.

She explained: "I've been living with it for so long and I've really grown I think as a person and evolved, so it was actually really neat to bring all of my own life experiences to the table.

"(Writers and directors) Frank (Miller) and Robert (Rodriguez) had been talking with me about it for quite a while, so it was neat to be able to actually play it because it felt like it was never going to actually happen. So when it actually did happen it was great."

Of what has happened to Nancy over the last nine years, Jessica hinted she had had a tough time.

She said: "She's a mess. She's an alcoholic and she's self destructive, and she's a hot mess. It was really fun. I'm so the opposite, I have all my ducks in a row, I go to the office every day, I'm a businesswoman, I have my kids.

"So to play someone who was such a mess was really fun, cathartic and liberating."

Jessica added: "She's a dancer, so physically it was very challenging. I haven't danced like that since the last one so that was fun to do that again. And then I got to shoot people. It was really fun. I worked with a choreographer on the big numbers. They were like, 'give it to me a lot,' so I really went for it."

She also said that there could be another Sin City to come: "If people go and see this movie, it's successful and they want another one, I'm sure we'll make another one."

Jessica voices a character in animated adventure Escape From Planet Earth, in cinemas now.
