Alan Partridge film for summer 2013 release
A FILM starring comedian Steve Coogan's Alan Partridge character will be shown in cinemas from 16 August 2013.
The long-anticipated film starring Alan Partridge, comedian Steve Coogan’s best-loved character, will be released on 16 August 2013, it has been revealed.
The film's UK distributor, StudioCanal, confirmed the release date earlier today.
Speaking in character as Alan Partridge, Coogan seemed more than satisfied with the involvement of French company StudioCanal, who will be working alongside BBC Films and the BFI Film Fund.
He said he was “simultaneously gladdened and pleased to see a British film being co-funded by the French dudes at StudioCanal.
“This is without doubt the greatest Anglo-French co-operation since the Normandy landings,” he added.
Already familiar with the mediums of both radio and television, the big screen should be an easy transition for Coogan’s broadcaster alter-ego.
Partridge will allegedly face a battle with a dominant media company, reminiscent of Coogan’s own appearance at the Leveson inquiry last year.
There will be no Mr Bean- or Sex & The City 2-style film relocations: Alan will remain in his hometown Norwich on North Norfolk Digital Radio.
The film will be written by Peter Baynham, Armando Iannucci and Coogan himself. It will be directed by Declan Lowney who directed David Walliams and Matt Lucas’s hit BBC comedy Little Britain.
Filming will commence on 7 January 2013.
