Ben Affleck and Matt Damon are reuniting to work on a new comic book adaptation.

The best friends - who found fame together when they won an Oscar for 1997's Good Will Hunting - will both be producers on Sleeper, reported Variety.

The Warner Bros film will be based on Ed Brubaker's comic book series, which is set "in noir universe where a few people are spontaneously developing superpowers".

The main character is Holden Carver, a man who can absorb pain and pass it on to others. He is placed undercover in a villainous organisation and falls for a member of the group named Miss Misery.

So far no casting details have been announced.

The Sleeper adaptation has been in the pipeline for several years and Tom Cruise was once linked to the project.

Ben, 41, and Matt, 43, have been friends since childhood. In 1997 they both wrote and starred in drama Good Will Hunting, which scooped two Oscars - best original screenplay and best supporting actor for Robin Williams.
