Adsit excited for action figure
Scott Adsit has revealed how excited he is to see his new Disney character immortalised in a toy after years of dreaming of his own action figure.
The 30 Rock star voices plus-sized inflatable robot Baymax in new animation Big Hero 6, about the special bond that forms between the robot and a child prodigy, and he loves how popular the character is already becoming.
Speaking on the red carpet at the Los Angeles premiere of the film, he said of his toy: "It's actually selling! I've made a lot of action figures of myself that never did a thing.
"It's just because of the trailer, we haven't even opened yet. Let's see what happens, maybe it will all change."
The film is set in the fictional city of San Fransokyo and features a group of friends who form a band of high-tech heroes and Scott said it was like nothing he had seen before.
"San Fransokyo is what was so striking to me, that melding of Tokyo and and San Francisco and knowing Disney would meld them so equally and perfectly into some new art from. The opening shot of San Fransokyo has five thousand individual characters walking around in it. That's amazing."
Admiring a giant inflatable version of Baymax towering high over the El Capital Theatre in Hollywood, Scott said he could see why the character is already set to become the breakout star of the film.
"He walks like a penguin, who can deny that? Also he likes you to take care of him and then he also takes care of you."
New Girl star Damon Wayans Jr, who voices group member Wasabi, said he didn't realise how different the film would be until he saw it.
"Reading the script felt like it didn't do it any justice, because when I was reading it I didn't understand the world like they did and then you see the storyboarding and you kind of get the idea and then you see the movie and it blows you away."
The actor, who recently headlined action comedy Let's Be Cops with his New Girl co-star Jake Johnson, said he found voicing an animated character an exciting reprieve.
"It's closer to stand-up comedy than doing a scene, you don't have to share too much, you're just in there doing your lines over and over again. Your voice is your weapon, your utensil, that is all you use and you see how much you can change it and make it the best it can be."
Big Hero 6 will arrive in UK cinemas on January 30, 2015.
