Actors hit heights for Yeats in the wild
TAKING in drama at new heights, over 200 people will make the journey to the summit of Knocknarea in Co Sligo to enjoy a performance of WB Yeats's play 'Purgatory'.
Sligo's Blue Raincoat Theatre Company will put on a one-off production on July 6.
Its director, Niall Henry, said that bringing the literary genius of WB Yeats into the midst of Co Sligo wildlife will offer audiences an entirely new experience.
"Yeats had a constant fascination in his writing with the wild beauty and spirituality of Sligo. We want this to be the first in a series of outdoor projects set against the landscape that inspired Yeats so much," Mr Henry said.
Nine play readings will take place during Tread Softly, the two-week August festival celebrating the link between the north-western county and the Yeats family who drew such inspiration from it.
