Former Britain’s Got Talent runner-up Susan Boyle has revealed that Meryl Streep may play her in a film about her rise to international fame.

The Scottish singer said she understands The Iron Lady actress has been approached for the lead role, after Boyle declined to star as herself.

Boyle confirmed a film about her life was in the pipeline at a press conference last month, but said it would not go into production until "later on" in her career.

Catherine Zeta-Jones and Glenn Close have also been tipped for the role.

TV mogul Simon Cowell is likely to be involved in the film, with past credits including last month’s One Chance about Britain’s Got Talent’s winner Paul Potts, teenage favourites One Direction: This is Us and the forthcoming Pudsey: The Movie.

Since being crowned the talent show’s victor in 2009, Boyle has led a “mundane and ordinary” life, despite selling millions of records.

She still lives in the four-bedroom West Lothian house she grew up in, shops at Tesco and insists that “nothing fazes” her.

“If you are successful, watch the people you go with because if you don’t have a good team about you it’s all too easy to fall into wee traps,” she said.

The 52-year old singer has sold more than 19 million albums globally, while her first audition, in which she sung “I Dreamed A Dream” from Les Miserables, has been viewed over 130 million times on YouTube.
