Lunchbox: The Harbour Master

Customs House Dock, IFSC, D1. Tel: 01 6701688

Sophie Gorman

The Cost: €19.95 for a club sandwich (€10) and vegetarian wrap (€9.95)

The Look: Spacious and traditional bar with lots of dark corners to disappear into and waste away the afternoon on their all too comfortable leather banquettes. It's a real find.

The Goods: Unexpectedly creative menu with starters ranging from 'Boudin Noir black pudding, pancetta crisps and poached egg salad' to 'fish cakes, saffron aioli and mesculan salad' and main courses such as burgers, salmon steaks and Thai prawn curry, but all with some exotic twist.

The Bad: Slightly pricier than your usual lunch pit stop, but this is certainly a place to linger, making it more than worth the money.

The Result: Our sandwiches are very tasty and nicely presented, complete with a pot of crunchy fries and a small side salad. And the staff are most amenable -- there when you need them and happy to leave you chatting when you don't.

The Grade: B+
