Lunchbox: The Espresso Corner Deli

The Cost: €5.95 for hot toasted focaccia special.

The Look: Small corner café with five tables, occupied predominantly by coffee drinkers.

The Goods: An extensive coffee menu dominates a limited sandwich selection, but the sandwiches are all made up freshly to order and they are good value, starting at €2.95. There is a soup of the day, but it was already off when I arrived. There are three specials daily, such as today's selection of The Homer, with ham, turkey, jalapeno peppers, a hot chicken pesto ciabatta and my focaccia special.

The Bad: The focus appears to be on the coffee, as the selection of sandwich fillings is pretty limited and service is rather perfunctory.

The Result: Two large slices of herby focaccia surround slices of roast chicken, followed by a layer of warm crispy bacon, melting red Cheddar, coleslaw and finished off with iceberg lettuce with red onion. All in all, a very tasty sambo.
