Love/Hate Nidge: ‘My real-life wife Claire stops me from imploding’
The loved-up star of Love/Hate Tom Vaughan Lawlor has thanked his wife for stopping him “imploding” during the show’s massive success.
The 35 year-old actor who plays Nidge on the hit RTE show admitted he felt the “intensity” of the show’s popularity.
He said: “I know I couldn’t have handled the intensity surrounding the show if Claire hadn’t been there. I would have imploded, dealing with the attention.”
Lawlor said he proposed to his wife Claire Cox, an English actress, in St Stephen’s Green which still remains his favourite place in the world.
“My favourite place in the world is St Stephen’s Green, bar none. On a beautiful autumn’s day, for me, it’s magic.”
He told Irish Tatler Man: “It was where I proposed to Claire – on the bandstand. I proposed on my birthday, during the first season of Love/Hate.”
He described the Love/Hate show as magical, since defining moments in his life have all happened while he’s been working on the series.
“That’s part of the magic of the show – huge moments in my life have run side-by-side with it – getting engaged, getting married, having our son.”
