Lisa Hannigan shortlisted for Mercury Prize

Irish singer Lisa Hannigan has been included on the 12-strong shortlist for this year's prestigious Mercury Music Prize in Britain.

The Co Meath-born pop-folk singer has been nominated for her debut album Sea Sew.

She is facing competition in the Mercury contest from a number of other critically acclaimed female singers, including Florence and the Machine and Bat For Lashes.

Other shortlisted nominees include Glasvegas, Kasabian, Friendly Fires, the Horrors and La Roux.
