Kathryn pulls on her business hat
Fitness fanatic Kathryn Thomas is taking advantage of her first Paddy's Day off work in five years and is heading to Kenmare with her boyfriend, Padraig McLoughlin.
"The Voice is starting on RTE a week later than usual, so we are heading down to my mum's house in Kerry for a little training, a little wine and long walks with the dogs, Peter and Poppy," explained Kathryn, when I met her in Dublin.
The "training" she alluded to has to do with Kathryn's first business venture, the Pure Results bootcamp which launches on Inish Beg island, west Cork, on April 17. The diet-orientated and training seven-day camps, which start at €999, run into June, with everything from boxing and high-intensity workouts to hill runs and relaxing yoga.
"I drove the length and breadth of Ireland looking for somewhere special and I found it on Inish Beg, so that ticked my love of travel, the outdoors and fitness," said Kathryn, who is working with the Great Outdoors on the venture.
"I got the idea to create an empowering bootcamp after I went to one abroad. I wanted to create somewhere in Ireland where you could get fit and trigger long-term lifestyle changes, so post camp there's a two-week, bespoke nutrition and exercise programme with specialist members of the team checking on their progress," said Kathryn.
