Julien Macdonald fears his feet will 'fall off' between Strictly and Fashion Week
Julien Macdonald is concerned his feet might fall off as he's working so hard.
The Welsh designer is gearing up to show his Spring/Summer 14 line at London Fashion Week this weekend. As if that wasn't stressful enough, he's also signed up to appear on a dancing reality TV show.
"The producers have let me work things around Fashion Week," he explained to vogue.co.uk.
"Yesterday I was dancing from 6am ‘til around 10am, then went back to my studio to work on Saturday's show, and then back to dancing into the night. It's crazy, and my feet are probably going to fall off, but I want to learn to dance."
Julien is starring on Strictly Come Dancing, which sees celebrities paired with professionals who teach them steps. Initially he was worried about the effect it would have on his business, although his anxiety was quickly allayed.
"The reaction [from the fashion industry] has been amazing, better than I ever thought," he gushed. "I was worried about what the industry would think, but everyone's been really supportive. It's been 'Go Team Julien' all the way, and there's no reason that a fashion designer can't do something like this. It's a new direction for me and I'm loving every minute."
It's not the 42-year-old star's first foray into television. He previously acted as a judge on the TV show Britain's and Ireland's Next Top Model, which is based on the Tyra Banks US series.
Julien still wasn't sure whether to commit to another stint on the small screen, even though executives chased him for months.
"My first reaction was I wouldn't be able to do it - I thought my fashion career would be over. I didn't think for a minute I'd be able to afford the time," he said.
