'It really is scary' - Woman unleashes inner 'Bridezilla' as tantrum threatens to ruin ancient Rome-themed wedding
A former rugby player brought out the 'Bridezilla' in his fiancee with shock ancient Rome-themed wedding on Don't Tell The Bride.
Beautician Zoe (23) displayed flashes of her inner 'Bridezilla' when she didn't get the wedding she'd hoped for on Thursday night's episode of Don't Tell The Bride.
Her mother warned viewers that "it really is scary" when Zoe doesn't get her way and her nervous bridesmaid backed that up by saying: "She will have a meltdown if he gets it wrong... she's like a five-year-old child."
“My standards are quite high, I do like everything to look nice and clean and pretty, only the best will do," explained Zoe.
The bride-to-be had her heart set on an indoor, vintage wedding with a feminine theme but her groom Michael had other ideas.
While she specified that she wanted "orange and pink, and glitter and gems everywhere, anything vintage, cute and fluffy," Matthew decided to indulge his passion for history with an ancient Rome-themed celebration, complete with gladiators and guillotines.
"Because I love history I want to give Zoe a Roman-themed wedding where all the men are dressed as Roman legionnaires and Zoe’s going to be brought in on a horse-drawn, Roman-style chariot," the former rugby player explained to the the cameras.
“All our family and friends are going to be around us, as the spectators would have been.”
And it wasn't just the theme that Matthew got hopelessly wrong, the Welsh couple clearly didn't communicate properly when it came to Zoe's wedding dress preference either.
While Zoe insisted that she wanted anything but a “vest-top” look, Matthew opted for a spaghetti strap design with added ‘cape’ details to complement his Roman Empire theme.
She turned deathly silent in the wedding boutique as soon as she was presented with the dress.
"Is she breathing?" her worried mother asked.
Then out came the full 'Bridezilla' as Zoe burst into tears and cursed Matthew in between gulps of champagne while her panicked (and terrified) bridal party desperately tried to calm her down.
The devastation was real as she wailed: "I don't want to put it on."
But in true Don't Tell The Bride form, Zoe's mood lifted as soon as she slipped into the dress and realised that it "wasn't that bad".
The groom also disappointed his bride by organising the ceremony in an amphitheatre... when Zoe had said she hates the "outdoors".
