Is there anything this man can’t do? Woman claims framed photo of Marty Morrissey is ‘good luck’ charm
A WOMAN has thanked RTE sports broadcaster Marty Morrissey for his ‘good luck’.
Danielle Smith took to the airwaves this morning to say she slept beside a framed photograph the night before an all-important job interview.
And she squealed with joy when the man himself spoke to her on radio this morning.
The interview went without a hitch – and Danielle’s putting it all down to Clare man Marty.
Danielle told RTE’s John Murray Show how she slept with a photo of Marty beside her bed the night before to bring her good luck.
Danielle, who says Marty is a “charismatic little devil”, is now delighted because her interview went well.
And she thanked Corinne Mannion from Ashford Manor Guesthouse on College Road in Galway who complied with Danielle’s unusual request.
Danielle explained: “It’s Marty Morrissey, he’s a national institution. So if you have him looking over you, you’re set for the day.
“It brought me luck, I had an interview yesterday and it went well.
“[Ashford Manor Guesthouse] could not be more helpful to me. A lot of people would have just thought I’m ridiculous, but I am ridiculous but she has a good sense of humour.
“[Marty’s] got it all really. He’s a charismatic little devil so he is. He tweeted me and everything.”
When Marty came on air, Danielle squealed: “Oh my God, this is the best day ever. Marty you’re just the man so you are, you’re just an idol really.”
Marty replied: “What can I say except that I compliment you on your exquisite good taste. I’m not too sure even I would want a photo of myself.
“I wish her the best of luck. She’s going to go far, and with that good taste, she has it all.”
Marty joked that Corinne should be complimented on taking this initiative, and this is the best day of his life.
Corinne joked that she is also a big fan, and she’ll have a photo in every room from now on.
“[Guests] may ask for extra carparking or may be informing us that they’re arriving a little bit later than normal, or baby cots.
“I was at my computer writing in my reservations and I got a special request and it said, ‘please could you place a photograph of Marty Morrissey beside my bedside.
“I looked at it and I said ‘is this for real?’ and I then decided… I would call the booker, and I called Danielle.
“And she said ‘yes I’d like a photograph of Marty Morrissey beside my bedside’ …The two of us roared laughing.”
