Editor Vicki Notaro brings you a sneak peek of what's in tomorrow's mag, plus her top picks of the week
Happy hump day! Not only are we half way through the working week (or more, depending on what time you're reading this), but INSIDER is out tomorrow exclusively with the Irish Independent - and isn't that a reason to be cheerful?
This week, we interview the delicious (yep, he's top ten material for me) Bryan Cranston, who's worked almost his entire adult life as a jobbing actor, but only saw massive success in his forties with shows like Malcolm In The Middle and Breaking Bad. With his latest leading role in Hollywood remake Godzilla, he once again proves his versatility. As expected, he's incredibly sound - and he's not ruling out appearing in Breaking Bad spin-off/prequel Better Call Saul.
This issue has a very summery vibe too, from fashion to music to our fabulous columnists Colm Tobin, Maia Dunphy and Boring Kearney on all things festivals and er, gardening. However we've learned not to be overly optimistic when it comes to the weather, so we've also got stuff to keep you entertained at home - food, TV, games, films, books and more. We've got some great reads too, from travel to culture, analysis and real life.
My personal favourite piece though, is a look at the rise of non-exclusive dating. Can we really expect someone we're seeing not to be seeing other people in this day and age in Ireland? It's been the norm in the States for ages, but we Irish haven't taken to seeing multiple people without feeling like a massive sleveen - until now, it seems.
All that as well as fashion, beauty, grooming, interiors, reviews, news and much more, if you haven't picked up a copy of Insider yet, I hope you give it a shot this week - and love it, obviously!
Editor's INSIDER Picks
Campo Viejo Tapas Trail
I was lucky enough to go to a press preview of the Tapas Trail coming to Dublin and Cork next month, and it's so well worth the €25 per person it costs - I was kinda astounded at the price actually, as you get delicious tapas in four of the city's top restaurants, and a glass of Rioja in each place along with a guided tour between stops. My favourite on the Dublin tour was definitely Bagots Hutton - it was my first time in there, but I loved the caves, the antipasti and the chilled atmosphere. Recommended! campoviejotapastrail.ie
I'm delighted with the news just announced that this group are playing Electric Picnic (WOOP for festival season!) - the classically trained quartet turned dance pop outfit won me over with Rather Be, and have me completely converted with Extraordinary.
Beauty Ed Nadia was nearly arrested for crimes against eyeliner until the cop realised she was an expert.
Benefit They're Real Gel Liner
Anyone whose seen a picture of me ever would be aware that I'm fond of a birra eyeliner. Actually, that's an understatement - I'm an eyeliner obsessive and quite frankly don't feel human without my little flicks. So the Benefit cosmetics launch I went to last week was quite frankly thrilling. A gel pen that twists up, hugs the lash line and helps do perfect cat eyes? I'm sold. It's not out til the end of June, but put it in your diary!
