'I'm in a romcom, but I'm no Hugh Grant', says rising Irish star Domhnall Gleeson
THEY both play bumbling and unlikely romantic leads in Richard Curtis romcoms, but Domhnall Gleeson says he's no Hugh Grant.
"Oh no! Totally not, and that's the sad truth. I'm not a typical romantic lead," he says.
Brendan Gleeson's son says he found himself accidentally impersonating Liz Hurley's former flame while on set.
"Hugh is so good at Richard's (Curtis) words that when you read the script, the first thing you do is a Hugh Grant impression," he says.
"But, I'm worried about even talking about Hugh Grant; because it may appear as through my big battle was not to be Hugh Grant."
The slim red head plays the lead role in time-travel comedy About Time.
Tim (21) is a socially awkward lawyer who discovers he possesses the ability to travel back in time.
While others may use this power for a greater good, Tim decides to find his dream girl, Mary (Rachel McAdams).
"It's a little bit about time travel," Gleeson said.
"But it's more about life and love and how to be happy. It's a really beautiful story."
Earlier this year Domhnall told the Herald that he was shocked when he saw his face on the poster.
"I think they made a bit of a mistake when they put me on the poster," he said. "I was like, 'Are you sure you want this?'"
