'I found it easy axing stroppy contestants' - The Taste's Roz Purcell
She's the new mentor on The Taste of Success and Roz Purcell has admitted she didn't have a problem sending contestants home if they didn't like her criticism.
The 26-year-old is joining veteran mentor Domini Kemp alongside fellow newbie Eunice Power on the RTE series hosted by Daithi O Se. It sees the trio mentor aspiring foodies.
However, not all of the contestants took it well when the model had some suggestions for the food product they were putting forward.
"It's been in their family for years and we're going, 'No it doesn't make the cut'," Roz said.
"With resistance, that sort of made your choice for who to go home easier. Gone, off the Christmas list."
Caterer Eunice agreed, saying many contestants were reduced to tears over the course of the gruelling competition.
"Yes, all of them took it badly. There were tears by the bucketload. People really got emotionally involved and they put so much time and energy into it.
"They put themselves out there with a product they thought was amazing and in some cases it was.
"It's a very emotional experience," she told the Herald.
The winner nabs an impressive €100,000 and the chance to see their product on the shelves of Lidl stores nationwide.
Natural Born Feeder author Roz revealed there was plenty of competition between the three mentors.
"When it comes to the judging day, you do get jealous if someone else has a really good product, you're like, 'damn'," she said.
The brunette also grew close to some of her competitors during filming. "You get really invested in your person so when the judges don't like them, you take it personally. In our own personal time, we all helped them out individually," she said.
The Taste of Success returns to RTE One on Tuesday at 8.30pm
