Havana great time! Camila Cabello lands first UK number one
The singer has managed to top the success of her former band, Fifth Harmony.
Camila Cabello is celebrating landing her first number one single in the UK.
The former Fifth Harmony star’s single Havana, featuring Young Thug, clinched the chart top spot after three consecutive weeks at number two.
Cabello told OfficialCharts.com: “I am so excited to be number one in the UK!
“I can’t believe it! Thank you to my amazing fans for always supporting me – WE DID IT! I am so grateful.”
It marked the first time the Cuban-American singer-songwriter has reached the top of the charts after she peaked at number two with Fifth Harmony’s hit Work From Home in 2016.
Her track ended up just short of 4,000 combined sales ahead of previous chart-topper Rockstar by Post Malone, which has now slipped into second place.
Silence by Marshmello featuring Khalid is a non-mover at number three this week, and Avicii’s Lonely Together with Rita Ora is at number four.
The top five is completed by Zayn and Sia’s Dusk Till Dawn, which has risen two places from last week.
Over on the Official Albums Chart, Michael Ball and Alfie Boe have managed to land their second number one album with Together Again, beating Stereophonics to the top spot.
Ball and Boe’s first joint album, Together, reached number one a few weeks after its release in November last year.
Stereophonics put up a good fight in the charts with their 10th studio album, Scream Above The Sounds, but debuted at number two.
Earlier in the week, it was thought that the Welsh rockers would clinch the top spot as they were 11,000 combined sales ahead of Boe and Ball, but they failed to keep up the pace.
Another new entry in the charts is jazz musician Gregory Porter with his record Nat King Cole & Me in third place.
George Michael’s Listen Without Prejudice Vol 1 is in fourth place, and Pink’s Beautiful Trauma rounds off the top five albums.
